Abstract

From a biological, evolutionary, and systemic lens, and in the middle of a vibrant, pulsating transformation process, this illustrative speech will introduce a holistic vision about the role of group therapy and processes in the region and beyond. The aim of the presentation is to illustrate the ever-going challenged cycle of despair, co-creation and transformation. The speaker’s personal and professional reflection on the transformation phenomena in societies and in the context of group psychotherapy and group work will be shared. Challenges and opportunities will be presented, addressing some potential conscious and unconscious dynamics. Our role/responsibility as individuals and groups to gain a more comprehensive understanding of such cycle, while considering our primary needs and basic interests (e.g., financial security) will be emphasized.
